Since 2009

We own the lorries, the facility and the numbers

Most waste “recyclers” are brokers. We run our own fleet and our own materials recovery facility, which is why we can tell you where your waste went rather than where it was sold.

Our story

Started because the paperwork did not add up

In 2009 our founder was a facilities manager with a recycling report that claimed 88% diversion. She asked to see the weighbridge tickets. Nobody could produce them.

Clean & Recycle was built on the opposite premise: every tonne is weighed, every load is tracked, and the report is generated from the weighbridge rather than written by an account manager.

Fifteen years on we operate two materials recovery facilities, a fleet of 68 vehicles and a compliance team whose only job is making sure your duty-of-care trail is complete before you ever have to ask for it.

If we cannot evidence it, we do not claim it.

How we work

Four commitments we are held to

These are written into our client contracts, not just our website.

Weighed, not estimated

Every figure we report traces back to a weighbridge ticket you can request at any time.

No hidden rebadging

We never reclassify contaminated recycling as recovered. If a load fails, your report says so.

Fixed, honest pricing

No gate-fee surcharges mid-contract and no automatic annual uplift buried in clause 14.

Reduction before collection

Our audits regularly cut client volumes by a fifth. We would rather collect less and keep you longer.

Directly employed crews

No subcontracted drivers. The person on your site is on our payroll and our training programme.

Audit-ready by default

ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 certified, with consignment notes filed the day a load moves.

Milestones

Fifteen years, briefly

2009

Founded with two vehicles

Operating out of a rented yard in Leeds, serving eleven local businesses.

2013

First sorting facility opens

Bringing materials recovery in-house ended our reliance on third-party gate reporting.

ISO 14001 certification

Independent verification of the environmental management system behind our reporting.

2020

Fleet electrification begins

First twelve electric collection vehicles deployed on urban rounds.

2023
